The 42PZ85U lives up to its reviews.
As others have done, I spent time to research both plasma and LCD units in the 40" to 42" range. The reviews on this site were very helpful toward my choosing the Panasonic Plasma. Once ordered though Amazon, delivery was prompt, actually arriving two days earlier than initially promised. The delivery was smooth - "white glove" delivery was accomplished as promised, with two deliverymen who set-up the unit, assembling the base, inspecting the unit, and turning it on, testing for a picture. Very pleased
I have only used the TV for about a month now. I have not experienced any faults. Even SD sources look good. I do not yet have Blu Ray or any other 1080p source, but at this point I can't imagine needing it considering how accurate and sharp the images are from my progressive scan DVD player with component outputs. I would like to have more factory preset settings for different types of video sources etc., but you can customize them as well, so I guess that's not really a valid complaint.

Clarity & Color
After having used this HDTV for the last month, I have one thing to say. Wow...I previously had a 65" DLP Projection TV, and a 52" LCD TV, but have to say that by far the best color and clarity I have experienced is on this 42" Plasma. This product was recommended to me by one of my friends who has the same TV, and he swears by it, and now I do too. I will be picking up a 50pz85u when I get a chance so that I can put it in the living room and move the 42pz85u to the bedroom. Bottom Line: The .... Read more

One of the best.
Like others, i took long time to choose between LCD and Plasma. Before this TV, i bought LCD (well known brand and latest model; i dont want to disclose it here purposely). What i found was LCD picture is too clear and it doesn't look realistic as well. LCD might be good for watching sports but watching movie on LCD was not that great, I really think watching movie on LCD is not movielike experience at all (looks very artificial). Hence i reaturned my LCD TV. Then i gone through lots of TV model .... Read more
